Yosemite-Day 2

Sunday morning, we slept in. We were so exhausted from Saturday’s activities! We had a nice complimentary breakfast at the hotel-where Lucia said she was going to stuff herself so she wouldn’t have to eat the rest of the day. She did pretty well! Then we took our time getting back to the park. We drove a different route back and stopped for sunscreen and fresh cherries and strawberries at a roadside stand. We stopped in an old mining town called Mariposa for lunch.

Then we continued on our drive. There is no easy way in or out of Yosemite-it’s windy and mountainous. But this time, we were better prepared and gave Marco and Lucia Dramamine.

First stop was Bridal Veil Falls. It was a pretty short hike, but the kids (especially Sylvie) were very interested in finding walking sticks and getting into the creek. It was misty up there near the falls and we all got damp. The weather was perfect-not too hot or cold.

Next we drove into the valley and stopped at this beautiful meadow. We took a walk through it and were amazed at the beauty all around us.Then we parked and took the shuttle to Yosemite Falls. While we were in the parking lot waiting for the shuttle, Sylvie decided to stand by the road and stick her thumb out (hitchhike). I wish I caught that on camera! It was so funny!  We also kept running into deer throughout the park. They’re not afraid of people-see how close we got!

Marco was mad because he wanted to climb on those boulders behind them. Other people were doing it, so he and Lucia wanted to as well. It made me so nervous, but we let them venture out a little bit. Then they were happy.

On the shuttle-they said it was their favorite part of the trip. Go figure!At the visitor’s center with the John Muir statue.
