Me encanta a Juanes!!!!

I posted on my tag that I love Juanes. (it's ok Julio loves him too.) You might not know who he is, but he is the best Latin artist in the world. He's won 16 Grammys and only 4 albums so far. He only sings in Spanish-he's not a sell-out to the crossover. He has a folksy rock sound and his lyrics are so catchy, the melodies are beautiful and gritty. I first heard his music in 2003-his first #1 hit-A Dios Le Pido. Since then, he has had numerous #1 hits that have stayed on the charts for weeks. His producer is a guy named Gustavo Santaolalla who won Oscars for Babel and Brokeback Mountain. Anyway...even if you don't understand Spanish, you can still appreciate and love Juanes' music. His new album "La Vida es un Ratico" has numerous songs that I love, but my favorite is "Dificil". See him play live a the MTV Music Video Awards:

I've been tagged! (Thanks Jana)

In February 1998...

I was on my mission in Salto, Uruguay. I was living in a 10x10 square foot cement block with wood shutters and no window panes, a metal corrugated roof (that leaked), a small space heater and a wire rack for our clothes. We were teaching the Martinez family who did get baptized and I still keep in touch with today. I had finally reached a point in my mission when I forgot myself and just focused on the work and came to really love the people. The companion I worked with (Hna. Thompson) I still keep in touch with her and we were roommates after the mission.

Things on my to do list...

It's Saturday, so I don't plan on doing much of anything. It's my only day Julio is around and I can just vegg. I do need to clean my disgusting bathroom and maybe take the kids to the park.

If I had a billion dollars...

That would be a huge responsibility I wouldn't want to have. But, I would get us (and my family) out of debt and buy a house. Set up savings accounts for our kids futures and for us. Invest some, and donate a lot to charity and cancer and Alzheimer's research.

3 Places I've lived...

1. Santa Monica, CA
2. Murray, UT
3. Citrus Heights, CA

5 Jobs I've had...

1. Mortuary assistant
2. Legal Secretary
3. Hostess at Sizzler
4. BYU Bookstore receptionist
5. 3rd grade Teacher

5 Things people don't know about me...

1. I auditioned for the Gong Show in 7th grade. (didn't make it)
2. I was a Depeche Mode fanatic in college and bribed a friend $20 for her backstage pass to meet them.
3. I would like to live out of the country for a couple of years with my family.
4. I love reading celebrity gossip magazines.
5. I am a huge Juanes fan, but don't like listening to music in the house-only in the car.

Pobre Marquito

I took Marco to the Dr. today for his 18 month check-up. He is meeting all of his benchmarks, which is good. The only thing is he is so skinny! He is in the 8th percentile for weight and 56th percentile for height. So he is long and skinny. I can't get him to sit in a highchair-he'll throw his food everywhere. He won't sit in a booster seat-he can wriggle his way out of them. So, he insists on sitting on a big chair next to Lucia, but he only takes a few bites and then climbs up on the table or takes off. Meal time is our big struggle with him. There is no reasoning with a toddler. He climbs on everything too. Right now, he keeps climbing up on the computer desk and standing on the printer. He's a little crazy! He threw himself off my bed this morning and now has a black eye. I don't know what to do with him. Hopefully he'll grow out of it soon.

New Year's Resolutions Update

I thought I'd update you all on our New Year's Resolutions. We did accomplish one goal yesterday when we got our new deluxe European pillowtop CA King bed! It is so nice and comfy. We love it-we don't roll onto each other in the night now! We thought we'd do it sooner than later since I will be getting big and fat in the next few months and we wouldn't be able to both fit in a queen sized bed. It is official that I am pregnant! I had my first ultrasound today and there's a baby in there! They gave me a due date of Sept 10th. I had calculated (according to my LMP) that I was about 10 days further along than that, so that was a little frustrating. But, all is well so far. We are excited, but it really puts the pressure on Julio to pass the bar now. Anyhow, the other resolutions of excercising and watching less tv have gone to the wayside. I have been sick and have to take my medication everyday so I don't throw up. It works in that way, but I am extremely tired and still feel nauseated and no appetite. So I do the bare minimum as far as housework and just take care of the kids. They've been eating lots of cereal, cheese and crackers, and pb&j lately. Poor things. Julio has had to fend for himself-he is losing weight though! I guess that is all for now. Thank goodness I have Tami next door for the kids to go play over there with Noelle. Also, Tuesday when I was throwing up, my mom came to take care of the kids. Phew!

New Haircut

Lucia's new haircut.

She said to herself while looking at a mirror, "I love my new hair do!"
