So I have to record this before I forget it. It shows how kids learn and remember things we say. We were at an ice cream parlor celebrating Sylvie's birthday last night (which I will blog about later) and we had dinner before ordering our ice cream. We told the kids they couldn't have ice cream if they didn't eat ALL their dinner. So, they both finished eating ALL their dinner and I only ate half of my sandwich. We praised them and said we were ready to order ice cream! But Marco noticed my uneaten food on my plate and said, "Mommy, you don't get ice cream because you didn't eat all your dinner!" Too bad Mommy's can do whatever they want!

Lucia's First Day of Kindergarten

So, I sent my first little chick out of the nest today. She was very excited and got up way to early to get ready. She had her clothes picked out, her backpack and snack all ready to go. Grandma came and stayed with Sylvie so we could face the mad rush easier. It was chaotic with all the parents trying to push ahead to get their kids through the gates. Lucia was very calm through it all. She decided to sit in the very front of the classroom (that's my girl!) I couldn't get a descent smile out of her though-she was making funny faces. Then they lined up and went in the class. I felt so sad to see her off, and so did Marco. I had to carry him away crying all the way to the car. When I picked her up, she said she made a new friend (an LDS girl) and that they held hands during recess and ate their snacks together. She said they did "math activities" and read stories. She said it was kind of boring because they didn't get to play much. I just hope she is challenged.

In other news-we put another offer on a house (a bank repo) and are hoping to hear soon. We have another offer waiting for short sale approval. So, whichever (if either) comes through, we will take it. We are so cramped and ready to move! See all the extra furniture in the picture? We got a new dresser and nightstand, so we've had to shuffle stuff around. Case in point.

It's been a busy week with Marco's birthday and lots of fun activities. Marco woke up early on his birthday and saw all his presents up on the entertainment center. It was so hard for him to wait all day to open them. We did play group in the morning, went to McDonald's for lunch and then came home to get some chores done before going to Grandma's for the "party". He finally did a #2 in the potty on his birthday and got his new blankie. He is doing pretty well with the potty training-he has accidents occasionally, but will go when HE wants to go-not when Mom tells him to go. So, finally after dinner and waiting for Daddy to arrive, he got to open his presents. I got some really good deals at Targets 75% off sale. He loved everything we got him and it didn't cost more than $20! He's been very excited to be a big boy now with his underpants and big scooter. He's a funny boy.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Our anniversary was yesterday and I felt so bad because I didn't get my wonderful husband a gift or even a card! It's been an action-packed six years. Three kids, three residences, law school, the Bar, six jobs, numerous trials and lots of happy times. It hasn't been easy, but it's been the most worthwhile endeavor of my life! I'm so thankful for a wonderful husband who is caring, supportive, hard working, and a great father to our kids. I am truly blessed.

Chronicles of Potty Training

He finally did it! We're so proud of him!

Day 1:

No pictures-just frustration. I decided to commit to potty training Marco this week. Yesterday we got out a bunch of incentives-toys, a new blanket, treats, tons of juice and chocolate milk-and he refused to even sit on the toilet. So, I put him in his room with his potty and locked the door. He took all the clothes out of the closet, the drawers, all the toys out and he also peed at least three times on the floor. I was so upset! Finally, I let him come out for dinner and eat and then I sat him in front of the tv with the potty. He finally peed! We made a huge deal out of it and let him pick out a new toy. He was so excited. Then we put him in a diaper and he went to bed.

Day 2:

He's had one accident for every pee in the potty. Not too bad! It's progress! But he didn't get to go to play group today and won't get to go out until he poops in that darn potty!
