Soccer star!

He is loving soccer and is doing great. He scored 4 goals in his first game and made 3 saves as goalie (didn’t get scored on). His second game he wasn’t as successful, but he still had fun. Julio’s dream of having a son play in the World Cup just might come true Smile

Dang! My kid is smart!

luciamom

We got Lucia’s STAR test results today. (That is the standardized test she took in the spring in 2nd grade). So, here’s the brag fest….

She got 100% in every area of Math except for statistics and probability where she missed one problem. Where did this girl come from? I’m horrible in math!!! Obviously, math is her strength and she didn’t get it from me.

In Reading she did ok-86% in vocabulary, 93% in reading comprehension, and 83% in Literary response. I know she’ll do much better in this area this year because she has suddenly decided she likes to read! She got the highest reading level in her class this year (that’s what her teacher told me) and has been reading about 1 chapter book per day.

In Writing conventions she got 86% and in writing strategies she got 100%.   So, I think she’s on the right track! The second graders at her school 56% got advanced in math and 49% got advanced in reading and writing. She’s at a good school. I’m proud of her and I see a very bright future for her!

Just some random stuff

It’s already half way through September! Please time, slow down! We started the month with Labor Day. Mom, Dad and B were out of town, so we had a little party at their house with some friends. We barbequed, swam and talked and had a great time.

Just a  side note about this baby girl: She is a spitfire! she is proving to be one independent little thing (only 18 lbs and not even on the charts.) But, she now pushes chairs or boxes or whatever around to climb up on things to get something she wants-like the peanut butter or my make-up or markers which she will spread all over her hands, face and clothes. Just the other day, I was trying to get her dressed and she kept kicking of the pants. She threw them and then pulled out some overalls and handed them to me to put on her. What 16 month old cares about their clothes?!! Geesh!  She is also at that non-eating phase-already! She pushes food away and says “NO!”  she also learned the word MINE! She will take toys away and say MINE! She’s a toddler already! She loves to talk and will come up to me and start gabbing away-she loves to make the ssshhh sound-so shoes, juice, Chase, cheese are her favorite words (besides NO and MINE).  We’ve moved her crib into Marco’s room, so they’re buddies now-keeping each other up way too late at night and getting up way too early. She’s not the best napper either, so I get very little done during the day because she follows me around or she gets into stuff. Oh well. She’s fun. Well, I’ll end this post for now. It ended up being more of a Tessa post then a catch-up post. I’ll write about Sylvie starting school and Marco’s soccer later.
