The nice thing about tax returns: we can use that money to take a little trip. February flew by! We did get some rain for a few days (finally), had a lovely Valentine’s Day (I didn’t get any pictures but the kids did get their treats that morning), Julio and I got to go out to dinner at McCormick and Schmidt’s that night. It was nice, especially since I almost decided to stay in because I subbed that day and was exhausted. But, to top off our week off from school for President’s Day, we went to Monterey. We enjoyed the Aquarium, The Denis the Menace park, the beach, and the San Juan Bautista Mission.
This is the last picture we got since the camera died. The kids really loved the touch pools and the penguins. We didn’t get any pictures at the Dennis the Menace park either. It was a lot of fun for the kids though.
Dunes Beach. It was COLD and windy!
San Juan Bautista jail
An Alfred Hitchcock movie was filmed at the mission.
Marco thought the old adobe church was stinky.
The cactus gardens
Statue of Father Junipero Serra
Inside the chapel
The front of the mission.
Now Lucia can do her 4th grade mission report!
It was a nice little trip. It gets easier to travel as the kids get older. No more diapers, bottles or pack n play to lug around. Since we got a membership, we will have to go back to the Aquarium in the next few months. Anyone want to join us?
