Thanksgiving Travelogue-Days 1 and 2 (I wish I could make it funny/interesting, but I’m not very good at that.

DSCN6240

We stopped half-way in Winnemucca, NV and stayed the night. We got upgraded to a suite because our room was given to someone else. Sweet!

DSCN6244

Thank heavens for DVD players. The kids did not sleep in the car, but they did watch like 10 movies. We only stopped once in Reno the first day and once in Elko the second day.  I can’t complain though, they were REALLY good on the way there.

DSCN6248

A beautiful sunset-near Jackpot, NV  We made it to Twin Falls around dinner time and went straight to Tami’s little preschool Thanksgiving celebration at the church. (no pictures were taken there.)

DSCN6250

YAY! We finally made it to Twin Falls! (Well, Kimberly really)

DSCN6261

It wasn’t quite as cold as I thought it would be. The kids went and played outside without coats. Kids don’t seem to get cold. I, on the other hand, kept at least 2 layers on at all times. BRRR!

DSCN6290

Wed. we went to a jump house and it was so much fun! Aren’t these some good looking kids?  We definitely got a good workout at this place. It was so worth the $!

DSCN6295

For some reason, I didn’t get any pictures of Elijah???

DSCN6300DSCN6304

Even the adults went down the slides and bouncers. Here’s Tami going down with her boys. HA! Since this is my blog, I don’t have to post any pictures of myself!

DSCN6346DSCN6358Here’s a cute one of Tessa.DSCN6305a cute Corom.DSCN6361DSCN6368DSCN6370 The bounce houses have a weight limit for a reason right?  Julio had a heck of a time getting up the ladder to go down this slide. He tried again and again and even fell and twisted his ankle. But, he was determined, and he finally made it up there and here he is coming down!

More on the trip to come…

Tessa-6 months

Our baby is growing up! I am enjoying her so much. She is such a sweet and pleasant baby. This month she has hit some new milestones. She has started eating baby food, can sit up for a few seconds, rolls around on the floor, she babbles. She’s starting to recognize faces and preferring her people (Mom, Dad, brother and sisters.)  She likes to be moved around a lot. So she’ll go from the spinner, to the floor, to being held, to her highchair. She hasn’t been napping much during the day lately, but she usually sleeps well at night. She had her shots last week and didn’t get feverish this time around. She still doesn’t have any teeth. She weighs 13 lbs. 6 oz.-she’s tiny-only 5th percentile. Hopefully with her new baby food she’ll gain weight.

My birthday weekend

Was very busy! My birthday was on Friday, but Thursday I got to open my first gifts from Callie. I also got to go to Lucia’s school and see her receive an award for being “Responsible” and she got her Trajan Tracker t-shirt for running 25 miles.

DSCN6068

Friday was already scheduled, but I did get to open some presents from Julio and the kids first thing in the morning. (photos not included due to extreme bedhead)

That afternoon we had an appointment for Sylvie with the speech therapist.  We were able to go out to eat at Hamburger Habit as a family and then went to the kids Fall Festival at the school that evening.

Saturday was another busy day. I got a special treat-shopping and lunch with Mom and Tessa. It was nice to be able to chat and hang out, something we never get to do without kids around. Julio took the kids to a birthday party while I was gone. Then we had our Trunk-or-Treat at church that night. I made white chicken chili-it was pretty tasty. It was kind of stressful-making sure the kids got food, chasing Sylvie around the building, holding the baby, passing out candy and taking the kids around the parking lot for Trunk-or-Treat. Next year we’ll simplify-eat before we go and not pass out candy so there are two of us to watch the kids.

Olivia the Pig, Santa Claus, the Princess, Witch and the Scarecrow.

DSCN6096Isn’t she the cutest scarecrow you’ve ever seen? Callie made her skirt.

DSCN6097Lucia’s costume was pieced together from the thrift store and I made her pig ears with the snout. Most people didn’t know who she was. Olivia is a character from children’s books and a cartoon on Nickelodeon.

DSCN6101Julio the ambulance chaser.

Finally, Sunday we had a birthday feast with the family. I requested a crab bake and Julio did it just like Joe’s Crab Shack.

DSCN6117DSCN6118DSCN6127And  Mom made the famous cake that all of us Shirley’s love so much-the sons-in-law, not so much. It was a great weekend! Here’s to being 29 (again) and another great year!

A muggy day at the pumpkin patch

Julio got home early on Friday, so we decided to do an improptu trip to the pumpkin patch. It was pretty empty, although we saw two families from church while we were there. It was fun, but eventually, because of the humidity and the flies, we decided to leave.

I just love October, I just wish the weather felt like October! A pumpkin patch just isn’t the same when it’s 80 degrees and muggy!
